I took my 17-year-old cat to UrgentPaws for constipation, and the staff was so friendly and kind to all of us. Dr. Lauren Banales was really sweet and understanding about his situation. She put together a treatment plan just for him, and thankfully he’s doing better since we went. The office is super clean and well-equipped. We got his blood work and ultrasound results the same day. Thanks to everyone at UrgentPaws for making a stressful situation a bit easier.

I took my 17 year old dog for ear infections and used the save my place on the website it was great. Everyone was very nice to us they are not pushy with testing and things you don’t need. We saw Dr. Wong super nice. Pricing is reasonable. Most likely I will take my girlie back for her recheck. I would definitely recommend and I have been a frequent flyer to emergency vets!

I have (unfortunately) experienced my fair share of emergency vets over the years and this was by far the best experience I have ever had at one. I was able to book a slot just before arriving and my pet and I were put in a room right away. The techs (Jimmie & Val I believe although I am terrible at name recall) were the most patient individuals with my cat who was incredibly frightened and thus acting out in retaliation. Dr. Seo came in shortly afterward and spoke with me in a very respectful manner, explaining all possible diagnoses and walking me through the recommended treatment plan. The space has an "open" treatment area where you are invited to stand alongside your pet while tests and imaging are performed. I personally enjoyed this both so I could comfort my animal while she was trying to have blood drawn but also because I work in the medical field and am familiar with a lot of the equipment used. (I may give a word of warning to non-medical individuals or those who get stressed/upset when their pet is stressed/upset about this component of the clinic, though.) I, personally, enjoyed this option but it is definitely a new feature that I have not previously encountered at an emergency vet. Every single person I interacted with in the facility were incredible. I live in Pasadena and am surrounded by a lot of emergency vet clinics but will absolutely be making the drive to Duarte if I have to seek immediate animal care again (although, fingers crossed, I hopefully do not). I have never written a review for a vet clinic before but felt compelled to given how wonderful of an experience I had at this establishment!!

techs were super kind and friendly, got us in quickly. exam fee is $141, additional services are at a higher price point of course. vet was also very nice and reassuring. i have a small chihuahua who is very scared of strangers/vet visits and they handled him gently and with great care. would recommend in an urgent situation!

Tbh, I can't give this place enough stars. My girl Countess decidedly does NOT like vets, but here was so different. They all were so calm and kind that she was immediately at ease in spite of it being a new environment with new people and smells. The whole process was very open and inviting. They really took care of her and made sure I understood everything that was happening at all points. I'm looking to make them her primary vets if I can. Seriously they're amazing.

I would give them more than 5 stars if I could. I had a great experience here. Highly recommend them if you’re in the unfortunate need for an emergency vet. Everyone was so friendly, honest and helpful. So glad I found it.

We had an end-of-life situation with our sweet dog. From entering until we left, the Urgent Paws staff were incredible. Dr. Wang was great but Omega went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, aware of procedure, and treated with the utmost respect. It is such a sad experience but our time at Urgent Paws was the most comforting way to help us through it.

I walked in with my dying cat, and the staff were incredibly kind and compassionate. They gave my daughters and me a private room and took the time to clearly explain everything, including all of our options. We were able to press a button when we were ready to say goodbye to our beloved Snowflake, which meant a lot during such a difficult moment. Thank you to all of the staff for your support and care.

I came here worried about my cat, Draco, because he had what looked like a cyst above his right eye that started two days ago. I was able to make an appointment online easily, and they saw him quickly. Jenny and Tiffany were both so kind, and the vet was great. Everyone was warm, helpful, and made me and Draco feel comfortable right away, which meant a lot because this was my first time bringing Draco in for something like this. They were very honest about pricing, did not overcharge, and took great care of him the entire time. Draco was such a good boy during the visit, and the staff was so sweet with him. One of the vets even got him a little toy, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Overall, I had a really great experience here and felt like Draco was in good hands. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a vet clinic that is kind, professional, and genuinely caring.

Thankful for the team here. You can tell the vet techs and doctors really love their job! I appreciate the time that both the vet tech and Dr Seo took to listen to my concerns about my dog Ellie. They took the time to explain everything to me and make sure that I understood the treatment plan for my dog.

My dog Freya had a very inflamed ear. I was stressing because her primary wasn’t open for a couple days. Her ear seemed to get worse even with what I was giving her. Anyways, she got taken care of super well. She usually is a bit nervous around new people but she wasn’t with Victoria. I think the calm atmosphere and Victoria taking time to get Freya comfortable was what made the visit go very smoothly. My dog usually pees at least 3 times during a vet visit . This time she only did once and was very comfortable after. She also enjoyed the treats after ear cleaning. I really felt the love for pets here and great quality care. Thank you so much!

I knew I was in the right place when I walked in and witnessed their excellent teamwork and communication while treating a critical patient that had arrived just before me. Kind staff and doctors that are gentle with both patients and owners. My cat is only getting better by the day. I hope I never have to take her to an urgent care again, but if I do it'll be here!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to save my spot?

No – walk-ins are always welcome. Save My Spot lets you pick an arrival time online, so we know you are coming and can be ready for your pet. We assess every pet on arrival and see the most critical patients first, so timing can shift if a sicker pet comes in.

Is UrgentPaws Duarte an emergency vet?

We are an after hours veterinary urgent care and treat emergencies that are not life-threatening. This includes vomiting, limping, cuts, ear and eye trouble, skin, urinary problems, and more. For life-threatening emergencies, contact your nearest 24-hour ER.

Can I stay with my pet?

Yes! Our clinic is open to you, including the treatment room. We want you to be as involved in the visit as you would like. In most instances, we find our patients do much better when they are next to their owners. In rare cases, you pet may be better on their own (e.g. they are trying to protect you) and we may ask you to give them some space to ensure they receive the best possible care. In these situations, we will communicate everything to you beforehand.

Do I have to go inside the treatment room?

No – we give our owners the option to come with us into the treatment room or remain in one of our private exam rooms – the choice is yours.

Do you take pet insurance or offer financing?

Yes – we make it easy to pay for the care your pet needs. We accept all major pet insurance plans on a reimbursement basis: you pay at the time of visit, and we’ll provide an itemized invoice and any medical records your insurer needs to process your claim.

We also offer financing through CareCredit and Cherry. Both let you apply in minutes from your phone right in our clinic, so you can find out what you qualify for before treatment begins.

Can you run tests and X-rays on site?

Yes – we run bloodwork, urine and fecal testing, X-rays and ultrasound in the clinic, and we give fluids, injections, wound care and medications on the spot, so most problems are diagnosed and treated in one visit.

What pets do you treat?

We treat dogs and cats. Some of our veterinarians also see exotics such as rabbits, snakes, turtles and lizards. Call us at (626) 765-3354 first and we will confirm that the vet on shift can treat your pet.

When are you open?

Monday to Friday, 3 PM to 11 PM. Saturday, Sunday and holidays, 10 AM to 8 PM. We are open 365 days a year.

Holiday hours apply on the holiday itself, not on the observed weekday. We keep holiday hours on:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day (July 4th)
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas
  • New Year’s Eve
How do I get there?

We are at 1086 Huntington Dr, Duarte, CA 91010.

In the Duarte Target Plaza on Huntington Drive.

How should I prepare for my visit?

Use Save My Spot, keep your pet calm and warm, and note when the symptoms started and what has changed. Bring any medications your pet takes, prior records if they are handy, and a stool or vomit sample if that is the problem. Please don’t give human medication; many common ones are dangerous for pets.

What can I expect after my visit?

After your visit, you’ll leave with a written care plan and your regular vet will get a treatment summary.

After treatment, we’ll:

  • Provide a clear care plan and recovery tips
  • Answer your questions and help manage follow-up needs
  • Send a complete medical summary to you and your regular vet to maintain continuity of care
