Shift Highlights

Work 2-3, 8 hour shifts plus 1, 10-hour shift per week for a total of 26-34 hours

Key Responsibilities and Clinical Duties

  • Partner with each pet owner to deliver high-quality, compassionate and comprehensive care
  • Examine patients thoroughly, utilizing appropriate diagnostic modalities to accurately treat various medical conditions and injuries
  • Stay up to date with the latest advances in veterinary medicine
  • Create accurate and detailed medical records for each patient within Shepherd practice management software system
  • Perform minor surgical and sedated procedures proficiently - no operating room on site
  • Assist with clinic cleanliness and organization
  • Communicate effectively with owners about their pets' conditions, offering best medicine while working within the financial framework provided by the client
  • Facilitate thriving relationships within the local veterinary community

Required Qualifications and Desired Skillsets

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree
  • California State Veterinary Board License in good standing prior to start date
  • Current DEA license
  • Practice in accordance with the California Veterinary Medical Practice Act
  • Adhere to the ethical guidelines set by the veterinary profession
  • Complete CE requirements to maintain a valid California DVM license
  • 2+ years' experience as a practicing veterinarian with a preference for urgent care or emergency medicine background
  • Clinical experience with diagnostic tools such as in-house laboratory equipment, radiology and point of care ultrasound
  • Strong knowledge of pain management and anesthetic protocols for urgent cases
  • Willing commitment to foster a confidence-building, collaborative work environment with all team members
  • Friendly, proactive, and helpful personality
  • Mature communication skills, both with clients and team members

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $150,000 - $250,000+
  • No negative accrual for production
